Sun Surf is a sub brand of Sugar Cane & Co, a Japanese brand well known for their focus on reconstructing the early days of vintage workwear history. The brand has roots that goes back to the 1950's but it wasn't until the late 80's that Sugar Cane started building the reputation for being one of the best denim makers in Japan. A reputation they still deserve!

This is Sun Surf's version of a classic work wear sensuji pants. If one thinks about the clothing history in Hawaii most people are familiar with the Hawaiian shirts, however this shirt is also a reproduction of a vintage classic shirt from Hawaii. The so called Sensuji fabric is a indigodyed striped fabric produced in Japan and back in the middle of the 20 th century it was commonly used in Japanes work wear garments, known for beeing drabel and long lasting. These fabrics were shipped to Hawaii and used to make shirts and work garments over there as well. Some sources says that these served as a source of emotional support for Japanese immigrants who thought of their distant homeland.

If you are looking for a pair of pants that combines the elegance of Japanese textile craftsmanship with a Western cut, then these pants will be perfect for you. At first they will feel stiff but as time goes on it will soften and we can only imagine how beautiful the patina will get after several years of use.

These trousers have the classic look of early 20'th century workwear and are cut with a high waist and wide legs. They have a button fly, belt loops and four pockets.
